Art was born March 17, 1947, the son of Robert and Celia (Maynard) Lent in Seneca Falls, NY. Following his education, he entered the Merchant Marine before enlisting in the United States Army. Art's military service began at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he learned Russian. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War and served as a Russian linguist for four years. Shortly before his discharge, he met Margaret Dwyer in San Francisco, Ca. Art and Margaret lived in various places, growing their family of six children in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and eventually settling in Maine in 1982. His career included working as a Field Supervisor with Exxon and retiring in 2009 after 30 years with the US Postal Service. A dedicated and faithful servant, Art was also an ordained minister and spent 13 years as a Pastor at the Church at Falmouth. After a period of declining health, he felt he was not able to continue. He became a member of Eastpoint Church in South Portland where he was so blessed with many great friends. A smart man, he was an avid reader. He was loved for his great sense of humor and his genuine care for others. He loved his children and grandchildren and wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to share time with them.
