STANDISH-Arlene Osier, 90, passed away July 7, 2019. She was born March 23, 1929 in Cumberland to Stephen and Helen (Scott) Greer. She grew up in Cumberland and graduated from Greely Institute. Arlene married her husband Theodore "Roland" Osier Sr. in 1947 and together they raised their nine children sharing 50 years together before his passing in 1998. In her later years, she found companionship in her special friend, Fred Villacci between the years 2006-2013 until his passing. Her last residence was Watchic Lake in Standish. Arlene was loving caring wife and homemaker. She dedicated her life to raising her nine children. Caring for these children was no easy task. She started with a manual wringer washer and hanging the wash on the clothes line from a second story window. We forget that clothes were not permanent press, she spent hours doing laundry and ironing for her husband and the kids. And yes, there was no such thing as a dishwasher other than her doing it. Of course, she was quick to teach the kids as they grew older. She loved to be doing something all the time. There was no task too tough and nothing she could not do. Her skills were amazing. In her younger days, she would be sewing clothes for the kids, knitting hats and mittens, and crocheting afghans for everyone. She loved to do crafting, making Christmas decorations, doll clothing, lobstermen, etc. When the camp was built, you could see her putting up walls, putting down flooring, putting the shingles on the roof. As she grew older and could no longer do the same things, she started scrap booking, many of which will be on display at the viewing. Her last days were spent in an assisted living facility where she would color or do puzzles to pass the day.
