Gorham- Arlene K. Mitsmenn, 95, passed away on Friday December 1, 2017 in her home of 67 years in Gorham, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She fought a long battle with dementia. The daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Conley) Kinney, she was born in Washburn Maine, on October 8, 1922. She attended Sheridan and Ashland schools and graduated from Hallowell High School, class of 1941. She furthered her education by attending Kennebec School of Commerce in Gardiner, and then Gray's Business College in Portland. After school she became at teletype operator for Western Union in the Washington D.C. area. Upon returning to the Portland area, she continued working for Western Union and also worked for Devonshire Financial Services. On May 21, 1949, she married her husband Donald G. Mitsmenn. They were married for 51 years until he passed away December 8, 2000. She was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph I. Kinney formerly of Worchester Massachusetts, and Roger Kinney formerly of Hartford Connecticut. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Mitsmenn, and his wife Sandra of Scarborough, her daughter, Mary Jane Parks, and her husband Timothy of Sidney, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the great team at VNA Home Health Hospice of Maine, with a special thank you to Liz, Jennifer, Kristy, Hope, and all who helped with the goal of letting Arlene pass peacefully and with dignity in the comfort of her own home. Her family would also like to thank their mother's dedicated caregivers, Judie, and Monique, without their daily commitment this goal could not have been possible. At Arlene's request there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Dolby, Blais, & Segee Funeral Chapel, Gorham.
