Ferrante, Antonio "Tony", 86 of Gorham, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born in Manoppello, Italy on January 20, 1938 and at age 15, he moved to the United States with his family. Tony lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication, love, and service. He was married to his beloved wife, Barabara Helen Ferrante (Baker), for an extraordinary 68 years. Together, they raised two children, Sherry and Tony Jr. He was a devoted father, always supportive and deeply involved in their lives. As a grandfather, Tony cherished his two granddaughters, Nicole and Rachel. He took great pleasure in watching them grow, offering them wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. Tony had a successful career as a carpenter and later, as a self-employed business owner/contractor. Over the course of his career, Tony participated in the construction of hundreds of homes around greater Portland. With a reputation for his quality craftsmanship and skill in building signature homes, Tony's work left a lasting impact among his many colleagues and clients. Beyond his professional life, Tony had many talents and interests. He was passionate about cooking for his family and friends. He was known for his meatballs and sauce, fresh pasta, clam fritters and assorted pies. An avid hunter, Tony enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting deer and moose. In addition, Tony enjoyed gardening, digging for clams and making maple syrup and sharing it with others. In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his daughter Sherry Ann Gile and her husband Wayne Gile of Gorham, his son Antonio "Tony" Ferrante Jr. and his wife Diana L. Ferrante of Scarborough, his granddaughters, Nicole Belle Gile of Madison, WI and Rachel Olivia Ferrante of Waltham, MA, his brother, Domenico Ferrante of Cambridge, MA and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss his presence. Tony's life was a blessing. His legacy of kindness, generosity and love will continue to live on through the lives he touched and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visiting hours will be held from Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook on Friday May 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The memorial service and interment will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St, Portland at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 1st.
