Windham- Anna Mae Southard, 81, passed away unexpectedly, on November 30, 2017 in Scarborough. The daughter of Percival and Avis (Hawkes) Bailey, she was born in Portland on July 27, 1936. She graduated from Windham Highschool in 1954, and worked for Wendell White Studios in Portland for two years. She married Richard E. Southard and decided to stay at home to raise her five sons. After her children were raised she worked for the family business Richway Inc. as a bookkeeper until retirement in 2000. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and was active in the Jaycee's in the 1960's. She enjoyed being part of a candlepin bowling league in the 1970's, and in later years she was a member of two camping groups. These groups met once a month in the summer and on the weekends. In 2003 she and her husband took a three-month trip in the RV to Alaska with a group of campers from all over the United States. She was a breast cancer survivor, and knitted hats for the cancer center in Scarborough for a number of years. She was predeceased by her son Dale, who died of colon cancer in 2015. She is survived by her husband Richard Southard Sr., of 63 years, her four sons Richard Jr., Dwight and his wife Mary Ann, Kevin and his wife Christine, and Dan and his wife Andrea, her daughter-in-law Pat Southard, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee, Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Interment will be in Blanchard Cemetery accompanied by a private family ceremony.
