Anita L. Metivier, 93, died on Friday April 5th, 2024 at the Gorham House in Gorham, Maine. She was born to Thomas and Natalina Leone July 27, 1931 in Farmington, Connecticut. Anita grew up in Farmington along with her eight siblings and attended local schools. She met her husband, Donald Metivier in Connecticut, married and eventually moved to Westbrook, Maine where they raised their four children. Anita and Donald were married 63 years before Donald passed away in 2013. Anita was an avid gardener and loved walking. She worked for the Westbrook police department as a school crossing guard, and was a volunteer at Maine Medical Center that earned her a 100 hour badge. She also volunteered at the Portland soup kitchen and delivered meals to shut ins for Meals on Wheels. Anita was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Windham where she was also a member of the ladies guild. Anita leaves behind her four children, Laura Fernald and her husband Peter of Summerville, South Carolina; Daniel Metivier of Westbrook, Maine; Anne Heflin and her husband James of Union, Maine; and Stephen Metivier and his wife Dawn of Brownfield, Maine. Anita also leaves behind 9 grand children and 6 great-grandchildren whom she very much adored. A funeral service will be held Wednesday April 10th at 10am at Dolby Blais Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Road, Windham, Maine.
