Anita R. Cote, 96, formerly of Westbrook, passed away at Maine Medical Center on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Springvale, the daughter of Alphonse and Eugenie (Levasseur) Jalbert. She attended Hesser's Business College and worked as a court stenographer. Her marriage brought her to Westbrook where Anita worked at Yudy's Tire Company and Maine Rubber for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Westbrook Business and Professional Women's Club and the Friends of the Walker Library. She was a communicant of St. Hyacinth where she volunteered on the Finance and Cemetery Committee's, and was a member of the Sodality of St. Anne. Anita also did volunteer work at the Westbrook Hospital. Anita enjoyed playing golf and had memberships at Gorham Country club and River Meadow Golf Course. She also enjoyed time with her family and found traveling later in life to be an adventure and educational. She loved to cook and garden, and found much delight in her computer which became a great companion in her 70's and beyond. Anita was predeceased by her husband Henri T. Cote. She is survived by her son David H. Cote and daughter-in-law Peggy Cote of Portland; a daughter Constance A. Holsinger of Lafayette, CO; of two grandsons Christopher Cote of Leander, TX and Mark Cote of Manchester, NH; and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, Oct. 28, at St. Hyacinth Church (St. Anthony's Parish). Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
