Obituary

Anita Knowles 1941-2019 Westbrook- Anita Louise Lucille Knowles, 77, formerly of Westbrook, passed away on January 17, 2019. She was born to the late Omer and Leah (Francouer) Charest on October 22, 1941. Anita graduated from Westbrook High School in 1959 and upon graduation worked at Larry's Jewelry; providing bookkeeping and account services. The majority of her career was spent at S.D. Warren/Sappi in a variety of roles and she retired as a quality control inspector. Loving mother of Leslie Knowles, Christine K. Reardon and her husband Gaynor Reardon, Anita is also survived by her grandchild, Sophie Knowles, as well as her beloved sister Constance Lagasse and brother-in-law Philippe Joseph Anthony Lagasse and brother Robert Charest. Her loving siblings also include the late Gloria (Charest) Welch, Rachel (Charest) Foley and Thomas Charest. Anita's hobbies included gardening, animals, puzzles, music of all kinds, and reading as well as visits to the beach throughout the seasons. Caring for and enjoying time with her granddaughter were very important to Anita as well. Anita and her family were very grateful for the caring and conscientious caregivers, of OceanView Falmouth House and Legacy Memory care, who guided her through a brave battle with Alzheimer's. Amy Newberg, in particular, provided Anita with love, friendship and a variety of activities for several years and extended the independence so vitally important to her. A private remembrance event for family will be held at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anita's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or 1-800-272-3900).
