Gorham, ME - Angela Rita Cross died peacefully at Gorham House on March 14, 2024, surrounded by family. Angela (Angie) was born in Westbrook on November 24, 1924, the daughter of Camille and Louise (Prince) Gaudreau. She graduated from Westbrook High School in 1943, then attended the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. degree in 1946. She married Theodore (Ted) Cross from Concord, New Hampshire in 1947 and they settled in Westbrook and raised seven children. Angie worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital her entire career. Early on, she "floated" to units where she was needed, but later spent many years working in the ICU. As busy as she was with her large family, she was an avid reader and managed to find time for a chapter or two most days. Her children appreciated her talent in the kitchen, notably her molasses cookies, holiday pies, bread stuffing, and Sunday dinners. In retirement, she and Ted enjoyed traveling, walking, gardening, music, and long Sunday drives. She also enjoyed catching up on all the television shows she missed while working evening shifts at Mercy Hospital. She was extremely fond of Lindt Lindor Truffles (blue wrapper!) and enjoyed eating them until the very end. Angie was predeceased by her husband Ted in 2012, and her daughter Katherine in 1996. She was also predeceased by siblings Edna Gaudreau, Lorraine Poitras, Fernand Gaudreau, and Romeo Gaudreau. Three siblings (Muriel, Conrad, and Rachel) died in infancy. She is survived by her sister Roberta Arsenault of Westbrook; children Maureen Snyder (Robert) of Gorham; Mark Cross (Laura) of Northeast Harbor; Thomas Cross (Ann) of Gorham; Eileen Gavett (Brandon) of Gorham; Judy Letarte (Rob) of Windham; Peggy Cross of Bonita Springs, Florida; grandchildren Robert Snyder, Jr.; Steven Snyder; Dori Cross; Darren Cross; Nathaniel Cross; Erin Cross; Stephanie Cross; Sarah Gavett; Brandon Gavett, Jr.; Eric Letarte; Danielle Letarte; great-grandchildren Andrew Snyder; Eleanor Snyder; Will Cross; Sofia Cross; Ezra Cross; and Naomi Cross; and long-time family friend, Chris Gagne. The family wishes to thank the staff at Gorham House, Compassus Hospice, and Northern Light Mercy Hospital Geriatric Care for their care, kindness, and compassion. A graveside service will take place in the spring at St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
