Obituary

Algernon S. "Allie" Davis of Windham, ME passed away peacefully at the Heron House on the morning of March 25th , 2024. He was 92 years old. Allie was born in Windham, Maine on May 4th , 1931 to Leroy Davis and Violet Hanspiker Davis. He married the love of his life Barbara McGoldrick on June 18th , 1955. Allie served our country during the Korean War in the army. Upon his return he worked construction on the Kancamagus Highway and Pease Air Force Base. Allie and Barbara started their family while living in New Hampshire. In 1963 the family moved to Windham, Maine where he and his sister Bernie bought Manchester Gas. They sold the company to Maine Gas where he worked until his retirement. Allie never fully retired because he always kept himself busy with many projects. Allie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He loved his time at his camp in Waterford spending time driving back roads, four wheeling, snowmobiling and sitting around the campfire. Oh so many memories we will always cherish! Allie leaves behind his children: Patricia Jewett Nyby and her husband Bob, Denise Cole and her husband Dean, Chris Davis and his wife Rhonda, and Jeff Davis and his partner Marie; grandchildren: Nicholas Jewett and wife Margaret, Ryan Cole and his wife Lindsey, Emily (Cole) Rodstrom and her husband Erik, Quinn Davis, Jenelle Boulanger and husband Josh, Angela Lyon and husband Jason, Stephanie McLaughlin and her partner John.; and great grandchildren: Eleanor and Madeleine Cole, Evelyn and Emelia Rodstrom, Colton, Payson and Caitlin Jewett, Drew and Luke Boulanger, Dominic and Gabe Lyon, and Grace McLaughlin. He is also survived by his sisters Loraine Monette and Rosanna Suflinsky, many nieces and nephew and his very special friends Walt and Ellen Stinson. He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara, sisters Bernadine Jordan and Elizabeth Davis, and brother Leroy Davis. The family would like to thank the staff at the Heron House for their exceptional care of our Dad. As we mourn his passing, we find solace in the beautiful memories he created and the love he shared. In his memory, lend a helping hand to a friend, family member or neighbor. There will be visiting hours on Tuesday, April 2nd from 5-7pm with a service to follow at Dolby Blais Segee Funeral Home 434 River Road Windham Maine 04062.
