Allan Robert
Howard
Mar 26, 1955 — Oct 9, 2026
Buxton, ME
Windham, ME – Allan Robert Howard “Hap”, born March 26, 1955, a lifelong Mainer whose days were shaped by his love for the outdoors, left us too soon on October 9, 2026.
Allan was a jack-of-all-trades. In his earlier years, he went to school for meat cutting and later drove trucks, locally as well as OTR. He then spent many years working at S.D. Warren Paper Mill and ran his own business “A.D.A.S Refrigeration.” In more recent years he delivered oil for several local oil companies.
Outside of work, Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time up north. He was also a member of the Buxton & Hollis Rod & Gun Club. Allan was a multi-talented individual and was someone many people looked up to and could depend on.
At the heart of Allan’s life were the people he loved most. He is survived by his daughters, Angela L. Doiron and her husband William “Bill” Doiron, and Sarah M. Howard and her partner, Jason Parkin, his daughters Alexis and Emma, as well as Allan’s granddaughter Josie, who brought infinite joy to his life. He leaves behind his significant other, Cathy Freedenberg, whose companionship meant so much to him. His sister, Nancy Howard, who will always lovingly remember her brother “Aly.” Allan is also survived by his former wife, Dianne Howard, who he spent many years with.
His circle of family extended warmly to several cousins, especially Steve, Randy, and Kendall Curit. Also special to him, his Aunt, Carol Curit. His significant other Cathy’s children, Angie, Nick, and Todd Bartlett. Last but certainly not least, his beloved fur baby, Paisley, whose companionship was a cherished part of his daily life.
Allan was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Howard; his mother, Barbara A. Howard; his sister, Geraldine Howard, and his beloved Uncle, Rex Curit.
He will be remembered for a life grounded in hard work, family, and simple pleasures enjoyed in the woods, on the water, and among those closest to him. His life, values, and impact will live on through the actions, stories, and love of his family and friends.
A casual celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at Pat’s Pizza in Windham. Wear your best camo or flannel.
In lieu of flowers, please just bring yourself and your best memories to share of Allan.
