Obituary

"Eleanor" (Alice Leonore) Chase, 90, died at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Chesapeake, VA on January 31, 2013.  The daughter of Adrien and Delia Lachance Buteau, she was born in Westbrook, ME on September 25, 1922.  She was a graduate of Westbrook High School and married her high school sweetheart, "Eddie" (Charles Edwin) Chase on Apr 25, 1946 after his return from service in WWII.  They were married 63 years until his passing in January 2009.  She held various jobs over the years including the SD Warren paper mill, Lenny Grafham's Roadside Stand in Gorham, and at Westbrook Trust.  When the family relocated to Portsmouth N.H. in January 1961, she took a job with the New Hampshire Savings Bank, and then was employed in the clerk's office at Portsmouth City Hall.  Before moving to Chesapeake, VA to live near her son in 2007, she lived at Thompson Point on Sebago Lake, ME for 20 years and in Gorham, ME for 7 years.  Eleanor's main focus in life was on home and family.  She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a wonderful homemaker.   She was predeceased by her husband, "Eddie" Chase; brother, Phillip Buteau; sister, Irene Harriman; and brother, Roland Buteau.  She is survived by her only child, David Chase, and wife Linda of Chesapeake, VA; grandson, Mark Chase, and his wife Stacy of Leesburg, VA; grandson, Glenn Chase, and his wife Marsha of Suffolk, VA; and 5 great-grandchildren: Spencer, Wesley, Cameron, Hannah and Sarah.  She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Caron of Westbrook, ME, as well as several nephews and nieces.
