Aldesta Edith Faucher, (Dusti), (76) of Hobe Sound, Florida and Windham, Maine, died peacefully in her Hobe Sound home Wednesday, March 22, 2022. Dusti was born in Conway, NH on October 24, 1945, to the late Melon and Eleanor Benson. She grew up in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire and graduated from Kennett High School in 1963. Dusti's family and friends loved and relied on her for her compassion, wit, and endless encouragement to live life to its fullest. Starting out her diverse career path at Bridgton Hospital as an Operating Room Technician, she followed her passions for the arts and the environment. With early inspiration from her sister Alayne, she and Ron later navigated a rewarding antique business traveling near and far together for that perfect piece for their shop. Renovating old homes was a legacy she passed down. Visiting her homes, one was not surprised to find a missing or new wall or a room with a beautiful new paint color. After leaving her hospital job she devoted herself to supporting her love for art and the environment. A talented painter, gardener, and voracious reader Dusti explored her world with open eyes and a committed heart. Once settled in Windham, Maine with Ron, Dusti set out to put her passion into action when she co-founded FOPR, Friends of the Presumpscot River. Her fierce dedication to protecting the river played a major role in the FOPR's fight to revive this natural resource. She successfully lobbied for the permanent removal of two dams along the river and the installation of fish ladders on several others. The Presumpscot is healthier now thanks in part to Dusti's efforts. Dusti's ultimate dream was to set the river free of all dams - if she'd had her way, she would have "torn every damn dam down." Her dedication to the river didn't go unnoticed from her grandson Chris, who at age five, caught on and perhaps out of jealousy and competing for her attention, began the tradition of yelling, "That's my river!" every time they drove by. Dusti would always retort with her own, "No that's MY river!" Now, it's clear to all of us whose river it really is. As Gram and Mimi, Dusti always made time to be involved with all her grandchildren's events. Traveling countless miles to watch basketball, field hockey, soccer, swim meets, dance or anything her grandkids were up to. She wanted to be present to cheer, complain about the referees to help ease a loss, or just be their biggest fan. If that didn't satisfy, then her potato salad or chocolate cream pie certainly would. Best of all…pillow fights, star gazing, long talks, and gram hugs. Though they considered Windham their Maine home, both Dusti and Ron decided they needed respite from New England's cold and finally found their sweet spot in Hobe Sound, Florida. There, they quickly gathered a new community of friends and Dusti adjusted her gardening skills to the southern climate. Besides her parents, Dusti is predeceased by her sister Alayne Wiley and brother Alan Benson and first husband Wayne Kenerson. She is survived by her loving husband Ronald Faucher of Hobe Sound, FL and her children daughter Lisa Kenerson of Westbrook, ME, son Greg Kenerson of Brownfield, ME, former son-in-law Micheal Shane of Poland, ME and step-daughter Maureen Vasquez, NC Grandchildren: Chris Shane and his fiance Sarah Dolny of Dover, NH, Kayla Madura and her husband Adam Madura of Casco, ME, Hailey Kenerson of Biddeford, ME, Nick Kenerson of CT, and Ryan Kenerson of Fryeburg, ME.
