Westbrook, Alcide Joseph Dube of Westbrook passed away on Wednesday September 7th with family at his side. He was born in St David on March 29th 1926, the son of Seraphine Gendreau and Jeremie Dube. Alcide attended the Maine School for the Deaf where he met his wife of 64 years Madeleine (Lachapelle) Dube of Auburn. He proudly worked at SAPPI – (S.D. Warren), for 45 years retiring in 1988 at age 62. Alcide was one of the founding members of the Maine Chapter of the International Catholic Deaf Association (ICDA) and was a lifetime member. He very much loved to entertain with simple illusions and acts of magic that would leave you thinking. He was also an accomplished woodworker and built the home in Westbrook where his four children, Francis, Jim, Wendy, and Randy were raised. Alcide is survived by Son Francis and Wife Carolyn; Son Jim and Wife Linda; Daughter Wendy and Husband Jerome; Son Randy and Wife Andrea. He also leaves behind 10 Grandchildren, 4 Stepchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother and father Jeremie and Seraphine Dube, wife Madeleine, brothers Leonide, Aldric, Elmer and Yvon; sisters Cecile and Lucille. He will always be remembered for his kind gentle ways. For a man with no words, he touched many and offered inspiration and hope to all those who he crossed paths with. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St Westbrook.
