GORHAM—Alberta I. (Junkins) Malpass, 92, passed away peacefully at the Gorham House on January 27, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 6, 1926, a daughter of John and Doris (Morey) Junkins. In her younger years, Alberta was employed at USM in Gorham and First National Bakery where she met her future husband. On May 26, 1961, Alberta married Horace Malpass and they were married for 48 years before his passing in 2009. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo (especially at Wassamki Springs Campground), baking, and listening to her favorite music by Elvis Presley. Alberta liked a good bargain and enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales. She also attended services at the Church of Nazarene in Cape Elizabeth with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jackie Wyman and her partner Al Gaudet, Chris Malpass and his wife Wanda, Mark Hughes and his wife Anne, Mary-Jo Dwyer and her husband Kevin, and Cheryl Ellis and her husband Kenneth; step-children Linda Gauvin, Susan Granger, and Sally Pelletier; grandchildren, Tyler Wyman, Jennifer Malpass, Nicole Reali, Isaac Hughes, Jay Chadbourne and his wife Miranda, Jessica Ellis and Timothy Ellis; great grandchildren, Christopher Reali, Avery Carignan, Mariah Chadbourne; a brother Gordon Junkins and his wife Darlene; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Horace Malpass, and her brother Robert Junkins. Alberta's family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at the Gorham House for the compassionate care they have provided to Alberta for the past three years. A graveside service will be held in the spring, where she will be laid to rest at Eastern Cemetery in Gorham. A date and time is to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alberta's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
