Obituary

Agostino P Samson (Gus), 69, died peacefully in his sleep August 7, 2023. He was born in Portland, Maine on January 15th 1954. While he certainly led a complicated life, he will be remembered for much more. Gus had a passion for cooking, remembered most fondly for his delicious sauces and creative dishes. He had a love and talent for making and using herbal remedies. Gus spoke often about using local honey in these remedies. He enjoyed his humble garden and loved living off of his land. Gus always had the gift of being able to make something out of nothing, his ingenuity was fun to witness. He had dreams of turning his property into a festival ground where artists, local farmers, honey farmers and community members could gather to enjoy local musicians and relax. Gus had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, which made this a perfect endeavor for him. One word to describe Gus would be LOUD! His booming voice commanded the attention of those around him. Despite his struggles, Gus was a kind, forgiving man. He remained steadfast in his love for all of his children over the years, no matter near or far. He envisioned a future of harmony with all his children on the land they grew up on. Gus is survived by many. His mother, Julia (Don) Larrabee. Mother of their 6 children, Helen Fifield and children Anna (Jordan) Johnson, Kayla (Phil) Abbott, Agostino "AJ" Samson, Sara (Drew) Williston, Rolanda (John) Stevens, Amanda (David) Olivieri. Mother of their 1 child, Beverly Commoss and child Maria Commoss. Step Son Nathan Fifield. We leave you with words of peace: God's Garden God looked around the garden and found an empty space. He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best. He knew that you were weary, and He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never be well on earth again. He saw the roads were getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered peace be thine.
