Obituary

Adrian Soto August 26, 1936 – September 21, 2023 Andy Soto, 87, of Standish, ME, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2023, at the Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME. Born on August 26, 1936, in Cuba, Andy immigrated to the United States with family and dedicated his life to serving others. Andy's journey began as a young boy attending St. Clare Academy in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, and continued at St. Anne's High School in Manhattan, NY. He furthered his education at Manhattan College in Manhattan, NY, for Refrigeration and Heating Technology. In 1955, Andy joined the US Army, serving actively in Korea until 1957. He proudly continued his service and was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1963, Andy became a naturalized US citizen. His military associations were a significant part of his life. After his military service, Andy pursued a career with the Long Island Railroad before venturing into entrepreneurship. He founded Andy's Refrigeration and served the Downeast Maine region for over 36 years, where the business actively continues with new ownership. His dedication to hard work, fairness, and personal customer relationships made him a well-respected figure in the community. Outside of work, Andy was deeply involved in various organizations and associations. He became a member of the Brotherhood of the Masonic Lodge in Port Jefferson, NY, raised by Charles A. Bunel, his father-in-law. He eventually transferred to the Winter Harbor Masonic Lodge in Maine, earning the 33rd degree. He ascended the ranks of the Scottish Right, culminating with the Shrine Ceremony of Admiration with Anah Temple in Bangor. Andy's infectious laughter and positive attitude touched everyone he encountered, earning him the nickname and a one-week indoctrination into the Anah Temple Clown Unit, named "Dazzle the Clown." He participated in the Provost Unit and Circus Committee Unit, where he worked up to the Anah Circus Chairman and other vital causes. He and other brothers, in fundraising efforts, raised over $100 million for children's hospitals, earning them the Million Dollar Club award. Carry on, and keep up the excellent work, Brothers! Andy's dedication to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his son, Victor C. Soto, and his wife, Denise M. Soto of Gorham, ME, along with his grandson Anthony B. Soto and great-grandchildren Colby and Kayleigh. He is also survived by his daughter Carolyn Soto Bell, her husband Jim W. Bell of Dania Beach, FL, granddaughter Brooke E. Bell, and great-grandchildren Skyler and Hunter. He is also survived by his daughter, Adrienne Soto Rogers, and her husband, Ray R. Rogers of Dayton, OH, who also mourns his passing. His father, Rudolfo Soto, and mother, Isabel Morales Ienni, preceded him in death. Andy's faith was essential to his life, and he worshiped as a Roman Catholic. Memorial services to celebrate Andy's life will be determined later for family and friends. Dolby, Blais, and Segee Funeral Home in Gorham, ME, currently assist the family with the arrangements. Andy Soto will be remembered as a gregarious gentleman who devoted life to serving others. His legacy of laughter, dedication, and community involvement will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed crossing the hot sands of the desert with his many brothers. Andy was forever proud of their work to prepare the way for those who followed behind. "Aleikum Es Selaum,"
