ADAM JAY HAWKES “HAWKESY”

POLAND-Adam J. Hawkes “Hawkesy”, 49, died unexpectedly December 31, 2025 at a hospital in Portland surrounded by his family.

He was born April 23, 1976 in Westbrook, son of the late Russell S.Hawkes. Adam graduated from Windham High School. He played soccer exceptionally well and enjoyed being with his friends who would describe him as “the life of the party”. After graduation he worked for Windham Millwork, Inc. He was an outstanding finish carpenter and loved working with his hands. He met his life partner, Angie in 2001 and became a father to Angie’s daughter, Angelika. He was a natural father and treated her as his own. A few years later on October 21, 2003 we welcomed our son, Jay Russell Hawkes. He was a great Dad and loved being involved in both the children’s sports and whatever passions they participated in. He was a coach to many other children as well and embraced this role. Later, he went onto work for himself as he always wanted, he has done amazing work all throughout New England. He had so many hobbies, a handful of favorites were boating, golf, playing pool, cornhole and darts-he was a natural athlete at anything he did. He was a teacher to many children and adults recreationally and in his career. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He participated in many benefit events.

Surviving in addition to his life partner, Angie Demers, are his Mother, Claudia D. Hawkes of Gray; his son, Jay R. Hawkes of Poland; his daughter, Angelika Knight and her husband, Devan Knight and their son, Braydon, of Buxton; his sister, Rebecca Dixon of New Gloucester and her two children, Hannah Pelletier and her husband Dana Pelletier of South Paris; Luke Dixon of New Gloucester; his brother in-law, Jesse Dixon of New Gloucester; his sister, Teresa Close and her husband, Brian Close of Buxton; many other Aunts. Uncles, Cousins and many friends and colleagues.

Funeral services for family will be held in the Spring and celebration of life will be announced in due time.
