Obituary

Windham- Ada Jeanette McDevitt, 88, passed away peacefully at her home, on August 24, 2017, with her three children by her side. The daughter of Augustus and Wealthy (Burgess) Spofford, she was born in Portland, on March 30, 1929. She was raised on Vermont Ave in North Deering, and also spend a lot of time on Peak's Island with the Burgess Family. She graduated from Deering High School where she met her husband James Herbert McDevitt Sr. They settled in Falmouth for a little while before moving to North Deering. James purchased a lot in Windham on Little Sebago where they built a camp. They eventually turned the camp into a house and moved from Portland to Windham. Jeanette lived in the house for 53 years. She lived for family and enjoyed hosting everyone for every holiday. She worked at Dairy Queen in Windham, where she eventually became a manager. She loved gardening, especially flowers, and shopping. She was predeceased by her husband and one and only love of 38 years, Jimmy. She was also predeceased by three sons, James Jr., David, and Charles, and her granddaughter Jessica. She is survived by her son Tommy McDevitt, her son Randy McDevitt, and his wife Cathy, her daughter Sue McDevitt, and her husband Rick Kiesman, and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd. Windham, with Rev. Philip Shearman officiating. Donations may be made in Jeanette's memory to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, PO Box 336, Westbrook ME 04098.
