BUXTON—Norman E. Gallant, 79, of Buxton, died peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on February 19, 2017. He was born on October 6, 1937, a son of Norman S. Gallant and Eva (Leavitt) Libby. He attended local schools and married Corinne E. Hillock on June 23, 1956 in Gorham. Together, they raised five children, Edwin, Joseph, Kenneth, Larry and Marcia. Norm worked for the family business, Stanley E. Hillock Co., drilling wells and later retired from Dixon Bros Oil in Gorham. Norm had a passion for airplanes, owning and operating several models throughout the years. He also enjoyed motocross racing in the 60's and 70's and was a Nascar enthusiast. Norm had a soft spot for animals, especially his dog and cat. He is survived by his children, Edwin Gallant and his wife, Holly of Standish, Joseph Gallant and his wife Ann of Buxton, Kenneth Gallant and his wife Lorie of Gorham, Larry Gallant and his wife Rachel of Buxton, and Marcia Durgin and her husband, James of E. Waterboro; siblings, Gilbert Libby and his wife, Pam, Dana Libby and his wife Linda, and Rebecca Arsenault and her husband John; grandchildren, Corey Gallant and his wife Jessica, Amanda Dunnells and her husband Darren, Catherine Sandburg and her husband Phil, Rebecca Gallant, Thomas Gallant, Shannon Gallant, and Aimee Bruns and her husband Evan; great grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Hunter, Gauge, Emma and Chase. He was predeceased by his father, Norman S. Gallant, mother Eva Libby, step-father Eddie Libby; his wife of 56 years, Corinne Gallant; and siblings, Philip Libby, Millie Lord, and Audrey Jarman. Services for Norman are private.
