Nicole Marie Ahlemeyer 'Schlehuber'

March 12, 1980 - February 26, 2022

STANDISH – Nicole Marie Ahlemeyer ‘Schlehuber’, 41, passed away at her home on February 26, 2022. She was born on March 12, 1980 in Portland, the daughter of Eva (Dame) Ahlemeyer and the late Frank Ahlemeyer of Standish. Nicole graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 1998. She went on to attend Mercy Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and graduated in 2000. Nicki married her high school sweetheart and soulmate, Damon Schlehuber, on September 27, 2003. She was employed at SMMC as a radiological technologist until she was diagnosed with a rare desmoid tumor. This tumor affected her health and every aspect of her life. She faced many treatments and surgeries and underwent many complications that changed her plans for her future, including children and a career she loved. She filled her life with her family, especially her two nephews who were the loves of her life. “Auntie” filled their lives with love, devotion, excitement, stories and games which made every visit an adventure. Especially Easter with her special treasure hunts. Nicki enjoyed writing stories and poetry, scrapbooking and photography, especially of her family. She is survived by her loving, caring, supportive husband and soulmate, Damon Schlehuber. He devoted his life to taking care of her. In her words their “love was forever and always.” She is also survived by her mother and best friend, Eva Tompson; brother, Craig Ahlemeyer; and her two beloved nephews, Austin and Gage, all of Standish. In addition to her father who passed away when she was a baby, she was pre-deceased by Richard Tompson, who helped raise her to be the loving, beautiful person she was. The loss of special people in her life was hard, but her greatest loss was her maternal grandmother, Louise Dame, who she loved more than life itself. She never got over losing her. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street.
