Lynda Langella Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lynda T. Langella. 79, of Gorham, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022 at home, knowing the love of her family. She was born in Portland, Maine in 1942 to Norman and Marjorie (St. Pierre) Tucker. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1960 with the clear intention of becoming a teacher. A decision she had made in elementary school. She completed her teaching degree at Gorham State Teachers College (USM) in 1960 and began her career at Congin Elementary School in Westbrook, Maine. After the birth of her eldest, she opened Happy Hill Nursery School in North Gorham to fulfill her roles as Mother and Teacher simultaneously. When her youngest began kindergarten, she closed the nursery school and began teaching in the Gorham School system where she remained until her retirement. She was a member of the Standish Baptist Church and it was there that she found a way to continue her passion for teaching. She volunteered to read in Mrs. Wilkins class at the Standish Baptist Academy. Lynda was an avid gardener, specializing in fairy gardens, a multimedia artist, and loved to decorate her home. Her favorite role was being Maymie to her grandchildren and she was thrilled to have known her great granddaughter as well. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband James V. Langella. She is survived by her daughter Amy Hatch of Westbrook; son Nathan Hatch and his wife Terri of Gorham; fiancé, Keith Tabor of Dover, New Hampshire; brother Jason Tucker of Limerick; her grandchildren Marjorie (Maggie) Bayley of Yarmouth, Rhiannon Hatch of South Portland, Liam Foley of Standish, Noah Hatch of Gorham and her great-granddaughter Rowan Ground of Hollis. A graveside service for Lynda will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 380 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, Maine on Saturday, August 6,2022 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, at Lynda’s request, donations to the Gorham Backpack Program may be made in her memory. The BackPack Program helps Gorham students who are suffering from the effects of hunger with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to eat during weekends and school vacations when crucial school meals are unavailable.
