Frederick Frye

May 11, 1928 - March 15, 2022

Frederick Edwin Frye, 93, of Bangor, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022 at a Bangor Health Facility. He was born on May 11, 1928 in Westbrook to Clarence H and Mary A (Clark) Frye. After serving in the United States Army he returned to Maine, continuing his career as a dowel buncher at Saunders Brothers in Westbrook where he retired after 66 years. While working at Saunders he also was a part time Westbrook Police Officer and helped at Bertin’s Flower Shop. He married the love of his life, Barbara H. (Haycock) Frye and together they had seven children. He enjoyed many activities such as puzzles, watching the Red Sox, cartoons, and even fishing when he was able. He also enjoyed hunting and bowling when he was younger and even tried his hand at taxidermy. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 197. Frederick was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Mary; son, Robert, a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his children; Gary Frye of Saco, Shirley Richardson, and her husband Tony, of Bangor, Doreen Harmon, and her husband Bruce, of Buxton, Nancy Butts, and her husband Edward, of Gorham, Raeanne Burgess, and her husband Cecil, of Buxton, and two children by heart, Tanya Miller and Ronald Strout. He also had thirteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor for all the love and care they showed Frederick. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 26th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home 434 River Rd., Windham with a Funeral Service Sunday, March 27th at 4:00pm with Pastor Phil Mumford officiating. Burial will be in May at Gray Cemetery with full Military honors.
