She was born January 31st, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Rosemary Murphy. Her first marriage was in 1969, to Capt. Gerald T Horiuchi. Their marriage lasted only 8 years, but after their divorce she found true love with her second husband, Patrick J Peoples. She and Patrick were married in 1982 and lived together in Westbrook until his death in 2017. It was as a representative where the skills she accumulated through a lifetime of challenge, and struggle allowed her to be a powerful voice for the people of Westbrook. Throughout her time in office she fought to maintain the sense of community in Westbrook that made her fall in love with it from the moment she arrived in 1978. She fought for accessible transportation, and environmental justice. She championed caregivers rights, as well as construction of Westbrook's skatepark, and the redevelopment of the Dana Warp Mill.
