PORTLAND—Robert "Bub" Allan Smith, 50, died unexpectedly on March 14, 2018. He was born on January 2, 1968, a son of George Smith Jr. and Sharon (Buotte) Smith. Robert, also known as "Bub" grew up in Westbrook and was a graduate of Westbrook High School in the class of 1986. After graduation, he went on to attend SMVTI where he trained for his career as a master oil burner technician. At different times, Robert worked for Dodge Oil and Downeast Energy and also worked the night shift for the Portland Press Herald for 9 years and then continued his career as a Master Oil Technician. He was an outdoor enthusiast whose passion was boating on Sebago Lake with his family and friends. Robert especially enjoyed watching Nascar and even took a trip with the love of his life, Norma Gregg to Daytona. Bub was a diehard Patriots fan and naturally a collector of Patriots memorabilia. With his love for the outdoors, he enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, and riding his motorcycle in his younger years. Aside from his interests and passions, his greatest love of all was his family. He always took time to teach the grandkids and play sports, he was the biggest kid of them all! He will be remembered for his infectious belly laugh, fun spirit, and generous heart. He is survived by his domestic lifelong partner, Norma Gregg; mother, Sharon Smith; father George Smith Jr. and his wife Mary Valerie Martin; step-daughters, Melissa Burnham, Tricia Burnham, Nicole Nguyen and her husband Antoine, and Alysha Burnham; sisters Allison Caron and Kimberly Smith; grandchildren, Trey, Harmonie, Pius, Tiana, and Aidyn; a nephew Jim Godin, and countless friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 4pm to 6pm at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook, ME 04092 where a service will begin at 6pm.
