Standish – Robert G. Dyer, 43, died on Sunday morning, January 29, 2017, at his home in Standish. He was born in Portland, on December 28, 1973, the son of Wilbert Dyer and Theresa (Davis) Hitchcock. Rob grew up in the area and was a graduate of Greely High School, class of 1994. In his younger years, he always looked forward to the yearly family trip. This trip was taken by canoe to an island in the Presumpscot River, where the whole family, four kids, two adults, and the dog, would camp for the week. Rob enjoyed the outdoors, racing and snowmobiling mostly, and hanging out with his cousin, Shannon Tardy, and close friends, Steve Holbrook, and Miah Tibbets. Rob was always joking around, making others smile. He loved his family, and was close to all his nieces and nephews. Rob also loved his dogs. Dozer, who passed away a few years ago, and his current two, Taco and Mickey, where always by his side. Rob is survived by his mother and her husband, who helped care for Rob since the early '80's, Theresa and William "Bill" Hitchcock of North Yarmouth; wife, Maryann Peavey of Standish; siblings, Michael Dyer of Westbrook, Kerry Bowman and husband Richard of Limington, Brandy Hitchcock of Millinocket; and Johl "Dustin" Hitchcock and wife Bobbi Jo of Springvale; nephews, Ritchie, Nick, Jessie, and Jeremiah; nieces, Jada, Taylor, Destini, Hailey, and Kyesha; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rob is predeceased by his father, Wilbert Dyer. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A celebration of life will be held at 12:30-5PM on Sunday, February, 5, at the American Legion Hall, 17 Dunn St., Westbrook.
