Westbrook, ME- Robert J. "Bob" Beaton Sr, 67, of Westbrook, died peacefully after a short battle with lung cancer on August 18, 2016 surrounded by family at Maine Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 20, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland a son of John and Charlene Beaton of Cape Elizabeth. He attended Cape Elizabeth elementary school until the 8th grade before moving to the great lakes region. He graduated high school at Northbrook High School, Northbrook, Illinois in 1968. After high school he attended Northern Michigan University, Class of 1972. He was a sigma beta chi brother and president. After college Bob was a successful business owner of Sunshine Cleaning Services for 20 years and Bob's Auto Detailing. He was also a substitute teacher of the Westbrook school system for 12 years. He was a youth football coach for Bonny Eagle Middle School, Gorham Middle School, and Falmouth High School. He was also a basketball coach for the 5th grade Westbrook travel team for many years. He enjoyed being a Little League umpire for many years for the greater Portland area. He Loved car shows and building cars with his son, Robbie. Loved watching Red Sox, Patriots, and Michigan sports, especially Football in his spare time. He married Zeny Aranas of Davao City, Philippines on June 18th 1983. Predeceased by his parents, John and Charlene Beaton of Cape Elizabeth Survived by his loving wife, Zeny Beaton and son Robert J. Beaton Jr. of Westbrook and brother John D. Beaton Jr and his wife Brenda of Eddington. There will be visiting hours on Wednesday, August 24th from 6-8pm and Funeral on August 25th starting at 10am at Saint Anthony's Church located at 268 Brown Street in Westbrook. Interment will follow funeral at St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. There will be a reception for family and friends at Stockhouse Restaurant in Westbrook after interment. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Maine Cancer Centers of Maine.
