WESTBROOK- P. Yvonne Goulet, of Westbrook, died on November 14, 2018. She was born in Portland, June 16, 1939 to the late Armand Joseph and Mary Isabel (Haley) Goulet. Yvonne graduated from Boston College Graduate School, St. Joseph's College of Maine, and Cathedral High School in Portland. She served in various capacities at Church World, a diocesan newspaper published in Portland. In addition to writing a regular column, Yvonne worked as associate editor, editor, contributing editor, or editor-at-large between 1972 and 2005. As editor, Yvonne won six major awards from the Catholic Press Association. She also served on the Maine Humanities Council from 1978-1984, as well as many councils and committees of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland throughout the 70s and 80s. Yvonne was also an English teacher at Catherine McAuley High School; Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts; and Mount Aloysius Jr. College in Cresson, PA, in the 60s and 70s. After retiring in 2005, Yvonne enjoyed taking care of her little yard at Patio Park, she continued her love of folk dancing, painting, theater, and other artful endeavors, and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Known for her quirky sense of humor, strong faith in God, steadfast friendships, and the ease with which she made new friends, Yvonne will be sadly missed by many. In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by a sister Kathleen, and a brother Bill. She is survived by her niece Susan Blake and her husband Steve, of Limington; nephew Bill Goulet of Parsonsfield; niece Sharon Terrano and her husband Matt, of Windham; nephew Ted Goulet and his wife Malinda, of Standish; nephew Tom Ronco and his wife Michelle, of Biddeford, as well as many grand-nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her dear college friend, Claire Lebel, of Westbrook. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the excellent and compassionate care they extended to Yvonne and the whole family.
