Portland, Windham, and Sebago – Marguerite "Peggy" M. Tatarcuzk, 90, died on April 6, 2016. She was born in Portland, on February 18, 1926, the daughter of Peter G. and Eva May (Leighton) Latham. Peggy grew up in Portland and Scarborough and attended Scarborough schools. Being one of 11 children, Peggy took care of her younger siblings after she completed school. She married Walter Tatarcuzk in 1945 and together they raised their three daughters. Peggy was the matriarch of her family, and was looked up to by not only her children, but by her grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well. She was even considered as a second mother to some of her nieces and nephews, because of the great care she gave them over the years. Along with her family, her bowling friends were very special and important to Peggy. Bowling at least once a week for over 40 years at Yankee Lanes and Prides Corner, her bowling friends became like family. Peggy also volunteered at the Highland Lake Grange for many years. Peggy enjoyed cooking, canning, knitting and sewing in her spare time; she even won first place at the Cumberland County Fair one year, for a dress she had made. Peggy was much loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her three daughters, Eva Polhemus and husband Wayne of Sebago, Judith Whitney and husband Scott of Bridgton, and Sharon Tanguay and husband James of Madison, FL; grandchildren, Cheryl, Brian, Jason, Dominique, Lisa, Norman, and Eva Marie; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Joan; brothers Peter, Joseph, and Eddie; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peggy is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Walter; sisters, Arlene, Dorothy, Lorraine, and Jane; and brothers, Harold and John. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, April 11, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, on Tuesday, April 12, at the Chapel.
