Buxton – Lawrence E. Roberts Sr. passed away peacefully on October 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on November 19, 1929 to Lawrence H. and Alice M. (Gregor) Roberts. He grew up and attended schools in South Portland. He married Marion J. Burnham on August 6, 1949 and together raised five children. He worked most of his life as a front-end mechanic and retired in 2001 from The Bill Dodge Auto Group. He enjoyed boating, fishing, horseshoes, flea markets, air shows, and most of all spending quality time with his family. He had a passion for airplanes and dreamed of flying one day. This dream was realized when he received a gift of flying lessons from his son. This passion was also expressed in his hobby of model building that carried from childhood through adulthood. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Warren, Harold, Philip, and John, granddaughter Amy Lynn and three nephews, Richie, Frank, and David. He is survived by his wife, two sons Lawrence E. Jr. of Buxton, Ronald M. and wife Connie of Naples. Three daughters, Sharon A. Masters & husband Patrick of Kingman, AZ, Susan E. Houck and husband Mark of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Doris A. Stout and husband David of Windham. Nine grandchildren, Christy, Scott, Eric, Chad, Mckenna, Jessica, Carissa, Nicole, and Garrick, two great granddaughters, Jennessa and Aniya. Brothers, William, and Raymond, sisters, Marion Stevens of Portland, Connie Muia of IN, Doreen Fecteau of Biddeford, his close cousin and friend Gene, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Precious. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 299 Main St. Gorham.
