Jeannine Louise (Bent) Denis, 68 Westbrook – Jeannine Louise (Bent) Denis, 68, died on February 19, 2016, at a healthcare facility in Massachusetts, with her family by her side. She was born in Portland on September 16, 1947, the daughter of Harold Fulton Bent and Helene Knight (Libby) Bent. Jeannine grew up in Gorham, graduated from Gorham High School in 1965, and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1969. On October 18, 1969, she married Michael Joseph Denis and together they moved to Oakland. While raising their daughter, Jeannine taught genealogy as an adult education course for many years, and she was involved in the Maine Genealogical Society, serving as Program Chair. Most recently she enjoyed her work as a Customer Service Representative at LL Bean, where she worked until she retired. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, reading romances and mysteries, and going to craft fairs with her daughter. In her later years she devoted herself to her two grandchildren, and to learning about autism in order to better support her family. Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Maureen Eleanor (Denis) Patrick and husband Joshua Daniel Patrick of Westbrook; grandchildren, Gannon Chandler and Garnet Catherine Patrick of Westbrook; sister, Kathleen Susan Bent of Raymond; sister-in-law Kristen Bent of Naples; niece, Stacey (Wilson) Grindel of Standish; nephews, Charles Adam Wilson of Gorham, Drew Bent of Greene, and Tucker Bent of Naples; her former husband, Michael Joseph Denis, of Kentucky; and her close friends Glenn and Ethel Stevens and Alton Stevens, all of Sidney. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Andrew Bent in 2001. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 12 noon – 2pm, at the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, 76 State St., Gorham. A gathering after the visitation will be held nearby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannine's name to the Autism Society of Maine. Burial will be in the South Gorham Cemetery in the spring.
