Irving (Wally) E. Wallace, 81, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Trescott, ME on August 6, 1934, the son of Allen and Lyla (McLaughlin) Wallace, and was educated in Lubec schools. In 1956, he married Barbara Jennings and together they had a daughter, Laurie. He remained very close to his in-laws from Canada, Tom and Louise Jennings. In February of 1972, he married Priscilla (Hall) White and became father to Steve and Coleen. Wally worked at Emery Waterhouse for 48 years (the longest employee at that company) retiring in 2001. After retirement, he worked for a short time taking surveys on local buses, where he met many new friends. He was a Deacon at Prides Corner Congregational Church and served the community and those in need by delivering Meals on Wheels, as well as delivering flowers, and visiting hospital bound patients. He was a very caring, kind and generous man, and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He, his bother Phil, and Uncle Harold went on yearly trips to Lubec to visit family. He loved camping, canoeing, hunting and was on a bowling league at Prides Corner Bowling Alley for many years. After retirement, he traveled around the United States by motor home with his wife, brother-in-law Gary, and sister in law Glenna, visiting the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Florida. Wally was a familiar face in the Prides Corner neighborhood where he walked daily and met up with friends at Highland Variety. Family was the light of his life, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he was very close. He has always played a big part in the lives of his grandchildren, attending all school and sports events. He was predeceased by his parents and two nephews, Marc and Philip Wallace and his Aunt Edna Emerson. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Priscilla Wallace, brother Phil and wife Anna of Maryland, his Uncle Harold McLaughlin of Westbrook, his children Laurie and her husband Randy Beal of Eddington, Steve White and his wife Muriel of Westbrook, Coleen Cupka and her husband David of Gorham. Grandchildren Toby White and wife Ana Paula, Vanessa White and partner, Rick Petacia, and Nathan Cupka. Great-grandchildren Sebastian White, Aiden and Gia Petaccia, and a special walking partner and friend, Jean Laconte, as well as several special brothers and sisters in law and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prides Corner Congregational Church, Westbrook, A Celebration of Life will take place at Prides Corner Congregational Church in Westbrook.
