Helen "Ginnie" Casparius Cote passed away in October after a long illness, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Royden, of Westbrook; Bradenton, FL; and most recently of Yarmouth. Her children, Paul and his wife Cindy of Cumberland; Charlie and his wife Gail of Raymond; Victoria Lee of Raymond; and Jennifer Thompson and husband, Jeff, of Stoneham, MA. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher, Megan, and Meredith, Jonathan and Michelle, and Caroline and Julie. She loved hearing about their adventures and accomplishments. Meeting, holding and seeing photos of her seven great grandchildren were special joys, especially in her final days. Ginnie graduated from South Portland High School and worked at Cushman Bakery where she met Royden. She was an exceptional baker throughout her life and passed on this love and talent to several of her grandchildren. "Nana" enjoyed sharing her passion for gardening, needlework, and jigsaw puzzles with her children and grandchildren throughout her life. It was a good Christmas when you were the lucky recipient of some of Nana's mittens! She began a nursing career later in life, graduating from Maine School of Practical Nursing, then working at Maine Medical Center for over 30 years. She was generous with her caring and knowledge, always willing to help out a friend when they had medical concerns. Ginnie and Roy loved spending time in Florida in the winter, and having friends and family visit wherever they lived. They loved to travel, and traveled to Sweden several times to visit family. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 11, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 33 Church Street, Westbrook. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook at 11:00 AM on October 12, 2024. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook. The Cote family would like to express gratitude to the Palliative Care Team at Maine Medical Center and the Gosnell House for their caring and compassion to our entire family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 612 Main Street, Westbrook, ME 04092.
