WINDHAM—Gloria Maureen Philpot, 73, passed away February 27, 2020 surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Portland, Maine on July 18, 1946 to Clarence "Mack" and Myrtle "Mitzie" (Greene) MacLeod. Gloria spent her early childhood in Camden and Brielle, New Jersey – near the Jersey Shore - before moving back to Maine, where she graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1964. She worked in her parents' restaurants, The Black Horse Restaurant in Naples and the Route 302 Restaurant in Windham, where she met Raymond Philpot, and the two married on June 12, 1965. She later worked for many years as a cashier at Shaw's Supermarket in Windham. Gloria was an avid crafter who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and any other craft project. She was passionate about gardening and cooking. She was the bargain hunter of the family, enjoyed yard sales in the summer, and was always looking out for the best deal, forever keeping in mind the needs of her family. Gloria was a devoted fan of soap operas and stock car racing, and loved caring for animals throughout her life, especially her cats. Above all, family was everything to Gloria. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was extremely proud of the family she nurtured. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Raymond Philpot of Windham; 4 children: Randy Philpot and his wife Sheila of Casco, Maureen Seavey and her husband Michael of Standish; Nicholas Philpot and his wife Tanya of Windham, and Dr. Patrick Philpot of Chadds Ford, PA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at the Windham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Arlington Cemetery. A small reception will follow the service from 7pm to 9pm on March 3, 2020 at the Windham Veterans Center, 35 Veterans Memorial Drive, Windham, ME 04062.
