Scarborough- Francine E. Lavigne, 88, passed away on January 10, 2018 after several months of declining health. She was born October 1, 1929 to Robert and Annie Sweet. She grew up in Portland and attended Portland High School. She married her husband Gerard J. (Jack) Lavigne in 1949. After raising her family, Francine went back to school & received her GED & then went on to nursing school at SMCC, earning her degree as a LPN. She spent most of her working career at Mercy Hospital. Francine & Jack enjoyed square dancing for several years and made many wonderful friends along the way. They had spent most of their retirement in Arizona. She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish, formally St. Hyacinth's in Westbrook. She was predeceased, by her parents, her husband Jack, her brother Bo and her sisters Phyllis and Barbara. She is survived by her sons: David A. Lavigne and his wife Jane, of Westbrook, and Daryl G. Lavigne and his wife Paula, of South Port, North Carolina. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Nicole Calden & husband Ken, Renee Lavigne, Andrea Beaulieu & husband Jamie, and Katie Babicz, as well as seven great grandchildren, Molly, Cody, Olivia, Gracie, Madison, Jordyn, and Will. Francine will be remembered most of all for her loving devotion to her family, leaving us all with many wonderful memories. Francine will be interred next to her husband in the spring, at the Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are under the care of Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Chapel, Westbrook.
