Obituary

WINDHAM – Dennis J. Cellamare, 73, passed away unexpectedly at his beloved home in Windham on Sunday, October 9th. Dennis was born in Staten Island, NY on June 3, 1943 and moved to Windham in 1953 with his mother, Catherine May (Spinelli) Cellamare and father, Frank Cellamare. Dennis attended Staten Island and Windham schools. As a younger man, he worked on Wall Street at a brokerage firm. He established his business, Dennis Cellamare Drywall Company in 1962. He was one of the industries most respected contractors, especially known for his integrity, honesty and workmanship. Dennis was the best friend anyone could ask for. His sense of humor and storytelling will be remembered by all that knew him. He loved aviation and obtained his fixed wing and float plane rating in his 30's. Dennis enjoyed numerous trips to the Allagash and Canada with his myriad of fishing and camping friends. He was a consummate fisherman. As one watched Dennis fly-fishing from his canoe in the early morning, it would appear as though he had entered a state of grace. As a young man he was an avid hunter obtaining several big buck patches. Later in life, he gave up hunting preferring to observe wildlife in his own back yard with his wife, Judith. Over the years, both Denny and Judith would gather their grandchildren late at night to watch the racoons and foxes come to eat at the birdfeeders. A memory that they will always cherish. He was an avid golfer and played in several local tournaments and scrambles. There were many legendary trips to Myrtle Beach with his group of four. Dennis learned the art of cabinetry from his father Frank. He went on to build various handcrafted pieces for his wife, family and friends. He was often amused that at this point in his life he enjoyed watching cooking shows. He then went on to become his wife's ultimate Sous Chef. Their dinner parties were legendary amongst their family and friends. He was a true Renaissance Man. Dennis was predeceased by his father Frank Cellamare and his father-in-law Richard P. Waltz, Sr. of whom he was especially close. He is survived by his best friend and wife Judith A. Waltz; his beloved mother, Catherine Cellamare; his cherished daughter, Kimberly Bintliff and her significant other, Tim Seavey; sisters, Carol Phinney and her husband, Glen, Linda Cellamare and her life partner, Lois Searles; grandchildren, Joshua Woodbury and his wife Rachel, Jennifer Woodbury, Jason Weatherby and his wife Maureen, Jarrod Weatherby, Olivia Bintliff; and, several aunts, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. May you have following seas and the wind at your back. God speed. Visiting hours Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham.
