Just as she lived, Claire passed away quietly with her family at her side at the Gosnell Memorial House where she spent her final hours. Born 4/6/1928 to Alice and Omer Methot she lived a long a life but as she always said we thought she would have more time. More time to be the devoted Wife for 60+ years, Mother, and Grandmother that she was. Claire grew up and graduated from Westbrook High School. Like many residents of Westbrook she worked at the local paper mill S.D. Warren. It was after marrying Harry Perry also of Westbrook that her true calling was shown as she became a full time mother to daughter Susan then Diane. She endlessly gave herself to her family. She and her husband were a true team doing everything together from taking care of their weed-less garden to fishing. She was great at fishing and her husband Harry will always think of those good ole days fishing on Moosehead lake. She was an excellent mother and friend to her daughters Susan and Diane. We can't imagine the patience that she had in sewing all those tiny Barbie doll clothes for us. So many special memories but in particular the days mother and daughters spent at the beach on Sebago Lake. She packed great picnic lunches that never stopped as she often left a cooked dinner in a cooler in Diane's car while she was at worked or hand delivered to Susan. She was a true giver which created a fantastic childhood for her children. It didn't stop with them. She gained two sons thru her daughters' marriages, Peter Muzzy when he wed Susan and Jim Murphy when he married Diane. Her granddaughters Sarah and Heather from Susan and Peter were precious to her and she was so proud at how wonderful they became as young woman starting their own lives, Sarah with Caleb and Cadence and granddaughter Heather with Zach. She spent many hours with Sarah and Heather. She attended their softball games and especially enjoyed with them her favorite past time, cooking. She was a fabulous cook and won an award at a Westbrook Women's Club competition for one of her famous soups. She also cooked fabulous meat pies and that special clam dip recipe. While her daughters did not take up the knack of baking, her granddaughters did as they spent many happy hours in Grammy's little kitchen. As they grew up the cooking lessons did not stop, she next began teaching Jim all her special tricks for special party treats. Like her granddaughters, Jim's precious memories of her will be from those good days. Even in the end cooking stories were front and center even though there were so many good stories to tell. She is survived by her dear husband Harry and all of her immediate family Susan (Perry) Muzzy, Peter Muzzy, Heather Muzzy, Sarah (Muzzy) Dawkins, Caleb Dawkins, Cadence Dawkins. She is also survived by her brother Albert and sister Irene. Her sister Alice passed when Claire was young and brother Roland died later in life. A graveside service will be held for immediate family at Woodlawn Cemetery. On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
