Camil Conrad Tanguay, 82, died unexpectedly on September 9, 2024, at his home in Westbrook. He was born on July 29, 1942, in Westbrook, Maine, son of the late Raoul and Rose (Arsenault) Tanguay. Camil served in the Army National Guard for a few years before settling down, marrying Emma (Burnell) Lewis, now of Turner, and starting a family. He worked at Nissen Bakeries and had several custodial jobs in his long career including Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, BJs Wholesale and McDonald's. He was a very hard worker with a strong work ethic and was employed right up to the time of his passing. Camil was very involved at his church, St. Anthony's in Westbrook and was very proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus and lived out their principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Florence and Priscilla, and brothers, Robert, Roland, Donald, David, as well as his son, Jeffrey. He is survived by a sister, Germaine of Limington, a brother Mike and his wife Barbara of Limington, a daughter Michelle and her husband David of Westbrook and a son, Joseph and his wife Lisa of Richmond and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends and neighbors. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Jennifer, Hallie, Josie and Jeremy and five great grandchildren, Ava, Hazel, Henry, Elijah, and Fynley. His family was of utmost importance to him. He had an endless passion for learning, loved to write about his faith and was always reading something from his enormous library of books. He was happy and positive, despite life's many challenges, but if you wanted an extra big smile, just serve up some lobster - absolutely his all-time favorite! Camil enjoyed a very special camping trip with his brother, Mike, a week before his passing. The pictures and his stories, in his words "the best vacation ever", has become a source of peace and comfort to his family, knowing how much he enjoyed those few precious days. Camil was loved by everyone he met; his quiet, friendly presence will live on in all that knew him. Visiting hours will be held at Dolby, Blais, and Segee Westbrook Chapel, 35 Church Street Westbrook, ME on Thursday September 19th from 6pm - 8pm.
