WESTBROOK -- Beverly Sinclair Marion, 92, a devoted wife, mother and sister who kept family at the center of her life, died January 30, 2018 at Birchwoods at Canco Assisted Living Community in Portland after a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 23, 1925 in Westbrook, she was the daughter of James and Wilma Small Sinclair. Beverly was a Westbrook High School graduate and lived her entire life in the neighborhood where her family had lived for generations. She thrived on the company of other people and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, yet family relationships were always her first priority. Beverly with a generous spirit, Beverly was an outgoing and friendly person who took a genuine interest in the lives of the people she met in the community or in her travels. She was an active volunteer who gave freely of her time to others. She was a member and former trustee of Westbrook United Methodist Church for 75 years. Beverly was also a member of the YWCA in Portland, Friends of Walker Memorial Library in Westbrook, the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Westbrook Women's Club and The Mayflower Society. She enjoyed local and Maine history and genealogy traveling to visit the Mormon church in Salt Lake City to research family history. She was a docent at the Tate House and Victoria Mansion in Portland. She worked many years in the payroll department at SD Warren as well as the administration office at Westbrook Junior High. Beverly loved to travel, whether on bus trips to New York City or much longer trips to places like Scotland, where she visited the ruins of the Sinclair family castle. Her travels took her to Europe several times, across the United States and Canada. She invariably made new friends on these trips. She spent many summers at family camps on Sebago Lake. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gerald Marion; her children, Peter Marion and his wife, Vicki, of Windham; Julie Marion of Portland; and her grandchildren, Elliot Bradbury of Biddeford, Annie Brett and her husband, Michael, of Portland, Oregon, Dan Marion of Scarborough, and Sara Smith and her husband, Matt, of Norfolk, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Andrew Sinclair and John Sinclair. Her family would like to thank the people who gave Beverly so much kindness and loving care during her illness, including the staff at Birchwoods, the staff at 1 Call and the VNA Home Health Hospice team. A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 35 Church St. Westbrook, ME 04092.
