WINDHAM-- Barbara A. (Curit) Howard, 87, of Windham, Maine, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2020 due to congestive heart failure. She was born on August 9, 1932 to Harvey Sr. and Gertrude Curit in Windham, Maine. Barbara attended Windham schools and worked as an CNA at Swampscotta Nursing Home for many years. Barbara loved spending her summers at Kotatosi camping and her time camping in Hiram with her brother Harvey and his wife Ginny. She was highly skilled with knitting needles and a crocket hook, also having a passion for gardening. She joined Pinea Rebekah Lodge #71 on June 4, 1958, then transferred to Narragansett #145 in September of 2005. Barbara was a 60 plus year member. She was the President of the Department Assoc Patriarch Militants of Maine. Received the Decoration of Chivelary. A member of Cummings LEA #16, holding many offices in all branches of the Order and making several trips to Arlington National Cemetery to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington D.C. She also was a member of the Odd Fellows in Windham. Barbara is survived by her son Allan R. Howard and daughter Nancy Howard both of Windham; granddaughters, Angela and her husband Bill Doiron, of Buxton, Sarah Howard and her significant other Kenny Sylvester of Windham; a great granddaughter Josie Lynn and other family members and friends. She is predeceased by her daughter Geraldine Marie, and two brothers, Rex Curit and Harvey Curit. Barbara's Celebration of Life has been postponed.
