Patricia "Patty" M. Cormier

Patrica M Cormier “Patty” of Westbrook, Me. passed away April 1, 2024, with niece Brenda Woodhouse and husband Ronald by her side at the Barron Center, Portland, ME from Dementia. Patty was born on March 17, 1939 to the late Adelard and Marguerite (Gallent) Cormier in Biddeford, Maine. Patty graduated from Westbrook High School in 1957. After graduating she met her forever love of her life Frederick Forty on Ground Hog Day. She referred to him as Freddy or her Hoggy. Patty was know as Freddy’s Hoggett. Over the 65 years together, every Ground Hog day you would find Patty and Freddy up at 5am doing their Ground Hog dance. Ground hog day was their special day. Every card they gave each other would have a drawing of their groundhog in it. The love Patty and Fred shared was beautiful. They were known to everyone as the cutest couple ever always smiling and holding hands. You would always see them sitting on their front porch on Main Street in Westbrook waiving to everyone. They would go for long walks enjoying every bird they would see. It was a joy to see them no matter where they were. Over their wonderful years they had a passion for train rides, driving across country, drawing and writing love letters to each other. Patty and Freddy loved being with family and friends making loving memories. Every night before bed Patty and Fred would give each other a magical kiss saying “Good Night My GroundHog! I love you forever!” Patty lived in Westbrook all her life. She was known to many as “Auntie Patty.” She was well know to the Westbrook Community. Patty was well known to the Westbrook Together Day Parade as her roll leading the Parade as Betsy Ross for many years carrying the American flag. Patty would go to St Mary’s Church singing with her Angelic voice. She spent a lot of time at that church . She would host many Halloween Party’s at the church for her nieces, nephews, and friends. Patty is known for babysitting over 100 children. She had a special cat named Bam Bam. Patty would take her nieces Ann and Brenda when they were little on long bike rides and bus rides. Patty loved Disney. Mickey Mouse was her favorite character. She loved visiting Disney World with her family many times. Patty made lots of magical memories at Disney. In 2016, Patty’s niece Brenda Woodhouse and husband Ron moved Patty and Fred in their home with them. They became part of their loving family. Also, Patty and Fred were welcomed by Ronald and Brenda’s children Ryan, Erika, Bella, Niko, and their Golden Retriever Miss Bristal to make a big loving fun family with lots of wonderful memories. They took Patty and Fred everywhere they went. Took them on many trips to Hershey Park, Washington DC, Amish Country, Cannobie Lake Park, Ohio Zoo, Discovery cove, North Conway, NH, Fun Town, Disney World, many beaches and many more places making lots of memories. Patty captured the hearts by millions On May 16, 2018 when on a Disney World trip. She met Mickey Mouse that day and ABC News was there and videoed Aunty Patty with Mickey Mouse bringing happy tears to everyone. ABC News used the video in every states ABC news. Patty proved to everyone that Dementia never stopped her from loving life to the fullest. Patty had a passion for watching wrestling, baseball, and football with the family. Patty was always full of love and smiles. In March 2019, Patty’s niece Brenda and her husband made Patty and Fred’s wish come true. They got them married. They finally became husband and wife after 60 years. It was a dream come true for them both. Patty had a life long love for Disney and will be remembered anytime someone sees a pair of Mickey Ears or loses a shoe at midnight chasing a pumpkin. In addition to Patty’s Parents, she is predeceased by her foster mom’s Mrs Dorin and Rita Minervino of Westbrook. The love of her life, her husband Frederick Forty, her sisters Pauline Winchester, Irene Paige, Yvette Burber. Her brothers Paul Cormier and Jerry Cormier. Patty is survived by her brother Robert Cormier, Foster siblings Jacquline Richards of Westbrook, ME, Charlene Nappi and husband Joseph of Otisfield,ME. Donald Richards of Westbrook, ME. Many Nieces and Nephews. Thank you to her niece Brenda Woodhouse and her husband Ronald and their 4 Older Children Ryan, Erika, Bella and Niko for their devoted love and care. Thank you to her Niece Ann Millet for the many phone calls to Patty making her smile over the phone. Thank you to the staff at the Barron Center in Portland , ME for the care to Patty especially the CNA’s on 2 South. Visiting hours will be held from 4-6pm Monday April 15th at Dolby Blais Segee Funeral Home. 35 Church Street, Westbrook, ME. Followed by service at 6pm. Burial will be Tuesday April 16th at 10am at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Westbrook, ME. In honor Of Patricia’s love for Disney and Children, all donations can be made to The Make A Wish Foundation.
